FormatIn AI is a Chrome extension that helps users format and generate
LinkedIn posts. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Data We Collect
We collect NO personal data whatsoever.
FormatIn AI does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personally
identifiable information, browsing history, LinkedIn content, or usage data.
API Keys
If you choose to use the AI generation feature, you provide your own API
key from a third-party provider (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI,
or Groq).
- Your API key is stored exclusively in Chrome’s local storage on your
own device using chrome.storage.local
- Your API key is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI
provider’s API endpoint
- Your API key is never transmitted to any FormatIn server — because
there are no FormatIn servers
- We have zero access to your API key at any time
LinkedIn Content
The extension reads the text inside your LinkedIn post editor only to
pass it to your chosen AI provider for processing, at your explicit
request (when you click Generate or Polish). This content is:
- Never stored by FormatIn AI
- Never sent to any FormatIn server
- Only sent to your chosen AI provider, governed by their own privacy policy
Third-Party AI Providers
When you use AI generation, your post content is sent to the provider
you selected. Their privacy policies apply:
- Google Gemini: policies.google.com/privacy
- Anthropic Claude: anthropic.com/privacy
- OpenAI: openai.com/privacy
- Groq: groq.com/privacy
Permissions Explained
- storage: To save your API key locally on your device only
- activeTab: To interact with LinkedIn’s post editor on the active tab
- scripting: To insert formatted text into the LinkedIn post editor
- linkedin.com host access: To inject the formatting toolbar into LinkedIn
- AI provider domains: To send requests directly to your chosen AI API
